Skip asked me if I was drunk while taking the photo of the zebra chair. Nope - not at 10:00 am when that was taken. I just liked the way it looked without a flash.

A Day at the Salon - Alex Style

On Saturday, Skip convinced me that Alexander's hair was no longer tolerable as it was approaching the look of a "late-80s Billy Ray Cyrus mullet." We booked him an appointment at Sharkey's Cuts for Kids in Villanova, theorizing that if he would enjoy his first haircut anywhere, this would be the place.

Crazy chair shaped like a fighter jet, complete with steering wheel and many buttons to push - check.
Video camera mounted to top of stylist station to document the event in color, with sound - check.

Boy was still completely freaked.

All in all, it wasn't a completely terrible day. The stylist only nearly nicked Alex's ear at one particularly tense moment. Just for reference, you would think that at a place called Sharkey's Cuts for Kids, stylists would be trained not to say things like, "geez - I nearly got him on that one," but there you go. Anyway...

We Interrupt Our Regularly Scheduled Programming...

I am planning a lengthy update with highlights from Alex's 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th months, with some of our favorite photos.  In the meantime, I hope that some photos of my recent trip to Ireland will suffice.

Note, MY recent trip to Ireland.  I traveled there alone (well, not really, as I was in the company of eight other women including my mom, but without the boy and the husband).  Although it was an altogether good trip and I certainly loved the break, I found myself missing my little guy on each half hour and longing to kiss his little smiling face.  As for Skip, he managed a bout with pneumonia (Alex), trips to the doctors for aforementioned pneumonia, visitors, and still managed to keep the house so spiffy such that I wondered if he hadn't slept at all when I returned home Friday.   He deserves many kisses and a trip to the Cayman Islands.
